When power distribution is unclear, operational risk increases
In critical infrastructure environments, a technical cabinet cannot rely on “tribal knowledge” or hard-to-read cabling.
DC power supply, battery backup and control electronics must be clear, accessible and maintainable to ensure reliability and fast incident response.
Project goal: turn a functional installation into an operable, traceable and production-ready system.
Project context
This work was carried out as a specialized subcontractor within a main integration team, in an environment with strict requirements for service continuity and safe intervention.
Scope of work
1) Cabinet normalization and physical order
- Review of physical layout and access points
- Cable routing and organization (avoiding crossings and mechanical stress)
- Reserved operational space for future expansions
2) DC power supply and backup
- Organization of the DC power system (protections, rectification and distribution)
- Verification of battery backup integration
- Clear visual access for fast diagnostics and intervention
3) Labeling and traceability
- Functional labeling of critical components (protections, power lines, sources)
- Maintenance-oriented identification to reduce ambiguity during interventions
The key is not just that it works, but that it is operable
In critical environments, real value appears when technicians can diagnose and act in minutes, not hours. Standardizing layout, routing and labeling directly reduces MTTR and operational risk.
Results
- Cabinet ready for operation and maintenance with clear cable paths.
- Standardized DC power and backup systems for safe intervention.
- Improved traceability through functional labeling and immediate system readability.
- Higher maintainability: faster diagnostics and reduced risk during power operations.
When this type of intervention makes sense
- Cabinets or racks expanded over time without a clear standard
- DC systems with backup where diagnostics are not immediate
- Environments where failures or incorrect operations have direct impact
- Installations requiring continuity and controlled intervention
